He is a member of the MEAA.

Gary Johnston grew up on a council estate in Glasgow, Scotland and has had an interest in crime his entire life. Having written for the BBC and worked with disadvantaged youth, he relocated to Australia where he became a parole officer in the tourist town of Byron Bay, an experience he chronicles in the book No Previous Conviction. He now teaches in Criminal Justice at Melbourne’s Swinburne University.
